This is a stylish piece of mid-century 1960s Czech glass.
It is a very rare teeny-weeny miniature piece - it copies the form of the larger Josef Hospodka (1923 - 1989) winged bowls - but in a much-reduced size. I have never seen one of these miniature pieces before - so I suspect that it is quite rare and probably an item for the specialist collector of Czech glass. My asking price reflects its relative rarity and condition.
Hospodka was a renowned Czech glass artist and teacher. He worked at the glass school in Nový Bor, and was professionally connected with the glassworks in Chřibská until his death in 1989.
This dinky wee glasswork measures just 5 inches in length - with a height of 2 inches and a depth of 2 1/4 inches.
It takes the form of a little bowl - with two raised wings or ears on each side. It has a central area is dark ruby-pink coloured glass which is then cased in a layer of clear glass.
It is in excellent condition - with no chips or cracks.
