This is a VERY RARE survivor from the early 20th Century.

It is a little biscuit tin - which was made for McVitie & Price's High-Class Biscuits.

These company made biscuits were something of a novelty at this time - and were very much designed for the richer households.

This tin was one for "samples" where you could check out a wee selection of biscuits for quality and taste - before committing to larger purchases. The wee sample tins are often harder to find than the full-size tins.

This is a very early one - as they had not yet started to print the decoration onto the tin itself - this one consists of the tin - which is covered all around in paper lithographically printed labels and sleeves.

This one has the most attractive Art Nouveau design.

The paper label is very fragile - and although this one has some losses here and there - given both its age and fragility - it is not in bad condition. Indeed, the inside is still very shiny and has not oxidized - as photographed.

The only issue is the rusting on the base - where there is a plain paper label telling you of the biscuits to sample: Digestives; Osborne's and Bunty Creams... all sounding very delicious to me.

The brown spotting on the base label seems to be a common feature on these old tins - so nothing to worry about.

Everything on my beautiful tin is stable - and it forms a highly decorative, rare, and rather beautiful tin for your collection.

Dimensions: 5 1/4 in length by 4 inches wide and with a height of 1 1/2 inches.

UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded (Small Parcel) and this will be applied to your order at the checkout.
