This is such a pretty little vintage menu.
It was issued in 1930 and gives a selection of foods on offer for formal dining on the NYK Liner MS Yasukuni Maru.
The cover is delightful. It is a small woodblock copy of a larger woodblock print by Hiroshige. The subect is the Yatsumi Bridge from the publication "One Hundres Famous Views of Edo". The front cover is nice and clean with no condition issues. It still retains its little decorative silk string which holds the menu sheets together
On the fly leaf there is a list (written in old fountain pen) of the people seated at the table for dinnner. The Menu is for 7th August 1930. So my menu is getting on for being nearly 100 years old... a rare survivor!
Some very strange offerings: including Potage Marie Louise, Asparagus Myonnaise, Plum Pudding, Smoked Ox Tongue - and not forgetting the Eel & Rice.
It is an interesting little souvenir of your trip of this NYK Line Ship.
The menu measures 19.5 x 13 cm.
