This is a rare survivor and probably more of an item of interest to the more specialist collector of miniature children's books.
It is one of two sets of these boxed miniature books that I have listed in my store. The other one is Learn and Know books in a School Room Box.c
The set is complete and in just such excellent condition. It consists of 12 miniature books. They were published in the late 1950s or early 1960s by Murray's Sales and Servive Co., Cresta House, Holloway, London, as annotated on the base. They were printed in Holland.
The books are all in excellent condition and all of them are present. The set consists of the following: Three Little Pigs, The Pied Piper, Gulliver's Travels, Aladdin, Hansel and Grethel, The Ugly Duckling, The Enchanted Horse, R. L. Stevenson's Poems, Alice in Wonderland, Heidi, Snow White and Thumbelisa. All as photographed.
They come in the pretty illustrated box - which is shaped like an old-fashioned Victorian bookshop. The doors open on the front and inside there is a second set of doors which are then opened by the Victorian little boy and girl. Inside, the miniature books are laid out as they might appear on the bookshop shelves.
The miniature books are have such delightful illustrations throughout with colour and black and white images. Each book measures approximately 8 cm x 5.5 cm. The box measures 16.5 cm in height and with a width of 13 cm. The overall height with the shaped free-standing title section is 20.5 cm.
The box and books are all in excellent damage free condition and this is reflected in my asking price - often the outer box has tears, scuffs or damages. To find a set in such condition is rare - you wont see such another one in such lovely condition easily. This set is really an item for a specialist children's book collection.
