On offer are these attractive vintage 1970s Delphis Poole Dishes.
Both are by Carol Cutler - one of Poole's most sought-after artists for Delphis patterns.
The Delphis range was heavily influenced by modern design and was introduced by the manager of Poole's 'making department' potter Guy Sydenham in conjunction with company designer, Robert Jefferson. Delphis wares are often bright and jazzy in colour and design.
The larger dish is Shape 81 and the smaller one has no shape number printed on it.
This is a larger-sized pin dish. It has a dark tangerine background and this is decorated with a typical and very painterly designs by Cutler. This is such a beaufiul dish - and this is reflected in my asking price. It has little white highlights on the rim of the plate - these occured in the making, probably when the glazed plate was put into the kiln. The white marks are under the glaze (not chips!). The design is made by using a black wax resist with freely drawn lines - and then filled with vibrantly coloured glazes.
My dish measures just over 6 3/8 inches at the base and is 5 3/4 inches in height. I have it priced at £40.
The other little round dish is also by Carol Cutler. It has a rich claret red background colour. It is also in excellent condition with no damages. It has a diameter of 5 inches. I have this one priced at £28.
Both are fully marked to the back, as photographed.
In good condition with no chips or cracks - any bright white marks in my photographs are not on the plates, these are just reflections caused by the very glossy glaze on each plate.
