This is a souvenir plate made for visitors to the Edinburgh International Exhibition in 1886.
This souvenir plate is now nearly 140 years old.
It has a central image of the Old Neterbow Port and the French Ambassador's House - which were ancient medieval buildings in the center of Edinburgh. Many of these old buildings were recreated as a "street scene" for visitors to the Exhibition to enjoy.
The border of the plate is decorated with flowers representing the four nations that made up Great Britain at this time. The plate would have been printed with a black transfer of the decoration and all the colours would have been applied by hand.
This is a lovely example of one of these souvenir plates - it has a diameter of 9 inches. It is 400 grams unpacked. It is good antique condition with no damage.
The plate will be posted to you in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. This will cost £4.95 and applied to your order at the checkout.
