On offer are these TWO pretty pieces of floral Poole - they are both in the same pattern. They date to the 1930s and are hand painted.
They both have terracotta-coloured clay bases that you might expect with Carter, Stabler & Adams pieces - and also have the stamped marks, as photographed. The impressed mark was used on items made between 1925 and 1934.
The Poole Pottery 953 sugar shaker is made from red earthenware and decorated with the EE (Fuchsia) pattern designed by Truda (Adams) Carter. The area on the base near the stopper has turned slightly lighter over the decades.
The sugar shaker is in excellent condition; no chips, cracks, or restoration. A rare shape, and difficult to find in such good order. Impressed CSA POOLE ENGLAND circular mark (used on sugar sifters), the number 953, and painted pattern reference EE/. You would be very pleased with it.
The sugar shaker is 4 3/4 inches in height and the diameter at the base of 2 1/2 inches.
Both items are in lovely condition - and the interest in the early 20th-century pieces of Poole is currently in the ascendant.
The interior of the open pot has an eggshell lilac-pink glaze; some very minor crazing to the glaze inside near the base - but only noticeable on close inspection and it is often found on these pieces.
The little pot is 2 3/4 inches and with a 3 1/2 inches diameter at its widest.
Both are sweet little pieces of collectable early Poole - and listed at a fair price to sell for 1930s pieces. I have the Sugar Shaker listed at £50 (these often sell for three figure sums!) - and the bowl at £35
Postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery - this will cost £4.95 and applied to your order at the checkout.
