This is a beautiful piece of vintage Okra Glass.
This lovely vase probably dates to the early 1990s. It is marked Okra on the base: and with etched initials: SEC (for Sarah Elizabeth Cowan). She was one of the first woman on the Okra Studios design team. My vase also has an etched number at the top, as photographed.
Okra Glass was owned and run by Richard Golding. The company produced mainly iridescent glass and has been in continuous production since 1979.
This vase is totally delightful and I have taken lots of images for your inspection. The glass artist must have been taking inspiration from Tiffany Glass to produce this lovely piece. it is certainly a most wonderful and highly skilled piece of English Studio Glass at the end of the 20th Century.
The vase is of globular shape and with a flared neck. The interest is in the layering and gathering of all the glass colours, applications and dazzling lustre effects.
The height of the vase is 6 1/2 inches - and the diameter at the widest point is about 4 inches. The diameter of the rim is 3 1/4 inches.
The main body of the vase is made of cobalt blue glass. This has an outer layer of mottled silver lustre decoration - and around the neck are small luste swag, as photographed.
Have taken lots of images - these will give you an idea of all the exquisite details in this top quality piece of Okra. It certainly looks even better in "real life", and is a great addition to your collection.
