This is a most fabulous and collectable piece of Amphora art pottery.
It dates to the 1920s / 1930s.
Amphora Pottery was produced from 1892 until the early 20th century. The factory was named Amphora Factory Riessner & Kessel and subsequently between 1910 and 1945 the name was Amphora Works Riessner.
Amphora pottery was also often referred to as Teplitz Austria after the Bohemia Austrian region Turn Teplitz where the pottery was located (now known as Trnovany, Czech Republic).
My beautiful vase is highly stylized and shows the influence of the Secessionist Movement at the beginning of the 20th Century. The design is geometric with the shapes filled in with enamels rather like you might find on cloisonne metal items - and the texture of the background is matt and textured.
The vase is unusual in its three openings at the top - with a larger central opening which is flanked by two smaller bud apertures.
Obviously not so much of a practical jug or vase - so probably more intended as a special piece for display only.
The vase has very clear markings on the base, as photographed.
It measures 7 3/4 inches in height - and has a diameter of 7 inches.
