This is a lovely vintage piece of hand blown Mdina glass.
It is a decorative modernist vase or sculptural piece of Maltese glass. It dates to the 1980s. It is known as the "Grey Banded" Pattern.
It is more unusual in that has a clear glass body with an applied casing of mottled, opaque glass. The green outer casing is flecked white and green and it has a cloudy opaque finish. Around the central section is a lustre glaze - this seems to have been made by having an acid liberally applied in a streak that runs around to the green glass. I think that this clear band has been created by sand-blasting or having acid eat through the green over-layer to shows the clear glass below. You can feel where the green glass is higher up and the clear / silver undulating band is a couple of millimeters lower. There are also applied thin trails which are made up using the same decorative technique.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
This is a much rarer and more unusual example of a Mdina glass lollipop vase - it has an etched signature: Mdina on the base. It also has its original paper label, as photographed.
Height including neck is 8 inches. The diameter of the main body section is just over 5 inches. The depth is 3 1/4 inches. The weight unpacked is 700 grams
