This is a lovely early 20th century copper mirror. It is a very fine example - and will look amazing in a period Arts & Crafts interior or home.
It is certainly a well made one with a beaten / hammered copper surface and embellished lots of decorative rivets around the rim and carefully placed on the edging around the side.
There are four raised bosses or elements that resemble abstracted flower heads (instead of the more customary blue ceramic Ruskin roundels). The bosses are made up of a series of repousse dots - and are then incorporated into applied decorative strapwork bands with more applied round-headed rivets.
This type of decoration is similar to that that you might find on many Arts & Crafts copper or pewter mirrors sold at Liberty in London at the turn of the 20th century. Sadly, there is no Liberty label on the back - so it is being sold by me as probably being retailed at Liberty. But it certainly is a fine genuine 1900s / 1910s example and in such lovely condition.
It is nice and clean - and ready for you to just hang on your wall.
Dimensions: The overall diameter is 17 1/4 inches. The diameter of the mirror section is 12 1/2 inches. The depth is an inch.
This is a great size for a modern interior - and also for a bedroom or hallway in an Edwardian / Victorian house.
It has a good bit of weight to it - being just under 3 kg in weight.
The mirror has its original mirror, wooden backing and original brown paper covering, all as photographed.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
CONDITION: The copper work is in excellent condition with original patina of age. There are no dents or scratches to the surface. The mirror section is without blooming or clouding - but there are a couple of tiny little spot marks - commensurate with age - these are not inherently obvious and what you might expect to find on an antique mirror over 100 years old.
These Arts & Crafts mirrors are always keenly sought after - and I have listed this one at what I would consider a rather fair price.
