This is an interesting and most unusual pair of heavy solid brass English Church candlesticks.
The are quiet squat in form and the base section is made up of a thick half dome shape. There is a small raised crossed on the front. The domes sit on the top of little applied metal feet. There is a short pillar topped with a wide brass drip tray. On top of the drip tray section is the scone where you would place a chunky white wax church candle on an altarpiece.
They have a large warm gold colour to the metal and are nice and shiny with no tarnish or dulling.
Listed here are the matching pair as shown. They do not have any markers marks on them and I have been unable to find another pair like them. Perhaps they were a special commission from a local metalworker or artist. The are certainly very well crafted and I have taken lots of images of them for your inspection.
They are in excellent condition with no damages. Lovely items for display in a church conversion - or perhaps of interest to a collector of religious or ecclesiastical items.
Dimensions: The height is 6 1/4 inches. The diameter is 6 inches at the base and the drip tray is 4 3/4 inches. Each one is 900 grams in weight.
I am listing the pair at £225 - which takes into account their rarity and the quality in the making.
Postage for the pair will be £14.95 with Parcelforce48. Fully insured in transit. UK Postage only.
