This is a lovely early 19th century toddy lifter.
This item is a hollow glass vessel that was used when transferring punch from a large punch bowl to fill an individual glass. The bulbous end (with a hole in the bottom) was dipped into the bowl until it filled up. Your thumb covered the hole at the top and when it was released when the lifter was above a glass, the contents would empty into it.
Unless you have a lot of punch parties - this is probably a specialist collector's item for people who collect Georgian glass or drinkware.
My lifter dates to around the 1830s and is in good condition with no restorations. It is an elegant shape with faceted slice cut decoration above the base bulb when it meets the neck. The neck is fluted up to the flared neck at the top.
The lifter is 6 1/2 inches in height.
