This is a very fine and highly collectable set of English Mid-Century Cutlery. It dates to the early 1960s and was made by Mills Moore, Sheffield.
It is in fabulous condition - and has hardly ever been used. All the pieces are present - and nice and clean. They are of the highest quality - and always attract good prices - especially when in the presentation case.
The presentation case is in lovely condition too - and nice and clean. It even has a little leaflet inside the box telling you how to clean the cutlery and care for it.
The case contains place settings for six people - each person would have a total of eight pieces of cutlery. So that totals up to 48 general dining pieces.
The contents of the cutlery presentation box are as follows: In the lid, there are large table knives and six smaller ones. In the base section we have - in the sides areas: six small butter knives, and six small forks each with four prongs. Along the center of the base is: two larger serving spoon, six three-prong forks - of shorter length, six three-prong forks of longer length, six soup spoons, six dessert spoons. At the top of the base section are the carving knife, steel, and carving fork.
Pricing these up at a fair price of £6 each piece that totals £288
There are also two larger oval bowl serving spoons - which are £12 each. And the carving knife, fork, and sharpening steel which I would sell at £14 each.
The case is a beautiful one and would sell on its own for £50.
So we have a grand total of £404 on the individual price breakdown - which I am rounding down to £375. This is a fair price given the condition of the complete set and box.
This cutlery set was considered a design classic in its time - and was selected for a "Design Centre, London" award in the 1960s. I have taken lots of images of the set, box and individual pieces for your inspection. Everything is in good condition - they only issue - is a couple of light marks on the blade of the carving knife - but everything else is without issue.
I also have a cocktail bar set in its original wooden box at £60 and a Mills Moore set of fish knives and forks (also priced up at £6 for each piece). Both are available on my website.
Due to the weight - we would have to post to you in the UK only. We will send to you with Parcelforce24. This will cost around £14 and this will be applied to your order at the checkout.
