This is a very rare survivor from the 1930s.
A fabulous white frosted glass Art Deco Hanging Lantern Shade.
It is of a geometric shape - and made of a number of heavy interlinked glass panels.
It comes with its original hanging chains and octagonal white metal Deco ceiling rose, as photographed.
It is a very large shade and substantially made - it is probably a light fitting for a much larger room - or at least a room with a high ceiling.
All the white frosted glass panels which form the shade are intact with no damages.
Given the complicated structure of this vintage shade - it has been quite tricky to photograph.
As mentioned - a large shade - it measures 11 inches in height and with a massive diameter of 17 1/2 inches. It has a stonking weight of 4.3 kg (unpacked).
The hanging fitment to secure the light bulbs is as photographed, the shade has fittings to take three light bulbs.
Being that it is all made of glass - it does have some fragility to it - and I would certainly be extremely hesitant to send it in the post.
Listed at a very fair price - probably now unique and the only shade of this design to have survived intact from the 1930s.
