This is a cute little miniature curling stone. It would look great on a desktop as an ornament or as a paperweight.
The curling stone is made of a polished granite base with a brass handle with a red plastic surround on the handle. The top of the brass section is inscribed "Mauchline" - this refers to the Scottish town where the last curling stones are made in the UK. The last manufacturer is Andrew Kay & Company - who are based in Mauchline in East Ayrshire.
The company retains exclusive rights to harvest granite from Ailsa Craig. They produce the only stones used in competition by the World Curling Federation and s the sole supplier of curling stones to the Winter Olympic Games.
My little miniature curling stone is a perfect replica of their larger models. It is made of dark grey polish grant with a decorative band around the side. The brass handle is nicely made. There is a little grey felt patch on the bottom so that the stone does not scratch your furniture.
It certainly looks good on display - and I have listed it at a bargain price. It is in excellent condition with no damages. It makes an unusual little gift or display item for a Highland cottage.
The diameter is 6.5 cm and the height from the base to the top of the handle is 5.2 cm. It will have to be sent to you in the UK with Royal Mail Standard small parcel. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
