This is a lovely paperweight by the master of Scottish Glass, Colin Terris (1937 - 2007). Colin Terris is acknowledged internationally as the Father of Modern Paperweight Design.
For 33 years he was the lead designer at Caithness Glass and in 1991 he was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to British Glass.
This is an eye-catching larger paper weight entitled Moonlight Serenade and comes from the 2002 Classic Collection. It is now a harder to source paperweight and this is reflected in my asking price.
The base is a bright emeral green colour with lots of little pealised air bubbles, It gets a little frantic above - with four enlongated air bubbles stretching up towards the crown. Inbetween each of these is a decorative web of pink glass sprinkled with twinkly gold inclusion. The web also has more pearly air bubbles on the edges. There is a little rising swirl in the middle. It looks a little like there has been an explosion inside of the centre of the weight.
Dimensions: The diameter is 3 inches - and with a height of 3 inches - so a nice large weight. It is in good condition with no chips or scratches to the surface. Unpacked it is 725 grams.
This is a very fair price for this fine weight by Terris. It has an issue number 236631 inscribed on the base - together with the title.
