This is certainly a very attractive paperweight to add to your collection. It was designed by the glass maestro at Caithness Glass, Colin Terris (1937 - 2006).
This one is called Vortex and is the green version of this weight. It is an earlier weight that Terris designed for Caithness back in 1975 - so it is now 50 years old
This certifcate label says that this weight is a vortex thought of by the ancients as the rotary movement of cosmic matter round an axis. Terris has interpreted this belief in this weight. He depicts a swirling, floating whirlpool moving up from the base covered in tiny clear bubbles. A lime green mist surrounds the larger ai bubbles and trails issuing from the base. It is a simply but effective weight.
It was from a limited edition of 1000 weights. This one is No. 729. It is inscribed with issue details around the edge of the base.
This paperweight comes complete with original box and certificate.
