This is certainly a very stylish special edition paperweight to add to your collection.
It was made by the glass maestro at Caithness Glass, Colin Terris (1937 - 2006). It a limited edition Christmas design for the year 1983 - so now over 40 years old - and still in perfect condition. It is edition numbered 499 / 1000.
It is certainly beautifully made. The ground is appropriately an opaque snow white colour. The decoration consists of a ring of blue and white millefiori canes around the circumference. In the centre is a little bright green holy sprig and above a gleaming copper kettle (it sparkles with the inclusion of gold aventurine). On the kettle handle sits a little red-breasted robin.
Around the side are six circular polished viewing facets and the dome - has a flat viewing panel at the top. When you look through it - you get a trompe l'oeil effect - and it seems that there is a double ring of the millefiori canes. It must have taken a long time and great skill of make this weight - he was some artist, Colin Terris!
It is in perfect condition with no damages. It is also fully inscribed on the base - but it was hard to photograph the text.
The paperweight measures 2 inches in height with a diameter of 3 inches. It is 500 grams in weight.
It will cost £5.50 to send to the UK with Royal Mail Recorded. This will be applied at the checkout stage.
