On offer are these delightful pair of little miniature Kosta bowls.
They are both signed - with the original Kosta Sticker - and also an etched signature Kosta / SH 5358.
The SH on this signature was used by the renowned Swedish glass maestro, Mona Morales Schildt (1908 - 1999).
She studied at the Higher Art and Crafts School in Stockholm. In 1936 she attended an advertising and painting school in Paris and at the same time worked for Gustavsberg where she was an assistant to Wilhelm Kage. He also worked for a while at the Arabia Pottery.
In 1950 she visited the Venetian glass artist, Paolo Venini with plans to arrange an exhibition of this work at the department store Nordiska Kompaniet. From 1958 to 1971 she worked for Kosta Glassworks – she was only the second woman to have worked at the firm.
Her work is in my important collections and museums including the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, as well as the American Swedish Institute of Art in Minnesota, and at the Baltimore Museum of Art in Maryland.
These are the sweetest miniature pieces. The central section of the wee bowl is a ruby-chocolate colour and it has been cased in clear glass. It has a little foot on the base all as photographed.
One measures: 5 cm in height and has a diameter of 6 cm.
The other is 4.8 cm in height and has a diameter of 6.5 cm. As they are hand-blown by the artist - there are slight differences in them. This second on has a smaller (and slightly pointed bottom) internal chocolate bowl section and the clear glass casing is much thicker.
They would make lovely additions to your collection of special Swedish Art Glass. Mona Morales Schildt's work is much sought after - and this is reflected in my asking piece for the pair, as photographed.
They are both in excellent vintage condition with no damages.
UK Postage will be capped at £5.50 - but we will probably top up the posting and send as Special Next Day Delivery. This will be applied to your order at the check out.
