This is a very fine piece of Art Deco Swedish Glass. It is signed and dated 1938.
It is a very heavy and chunky squat glass vase or bowl. The main body of the work stands in a raised round foot, as photographed. The glass has a smoky finish to it and looks so fabulous on display. Although the glass is clear with a smoky tinge to it - you might notice that on display the thich foot looks more like a black or dark brown shade. It has been rather difficult to photograph as the chunky nature of the glass - threw off a lot of reflections. I hope that they do this unusual piece of Swedish glass justice.
On the front of the vase - is a little wheel engraved image of a little fawn or baby deer - it stands with its long legs spread out and with head turned and nuzzling at its neck. The engraving is certainly most exquisite.
This is a very rare piece of early Orrefors. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The rarity of this beautiful piece of Scandinavian Glass is reflected in my asking price.
The vase was designed by Vicke Lindstand for Orrefors - and it is fully inscribed on the base. It is signed Orrefors and Lindstrand. It has the code A4 (for the year 1938) and has the shape No. 1408.
It will have to be sent to you in the UK with Parcelforce 24 - as I will have to go in a larger sturdy box to keep it all safe in transit to you. Sadly due to its weight, I will be unable to post outside of the UK.
