This is a great wee item to add to your collection of mid-century Danish Glass.
This is a cute little amber glass piggy bank. It takes the form of a little pig covered all over with decorative hobnail dimples. I love his little eyes, pointed ears and little raised curly tail. Mr Piggy was designed in the 1960s by Jacob Bang for Holmegaard. The little amber-toffee coloured glass ones look especially nice when displayed on teak Scandi-modern tables, desks or bureaus.
These little pigs were designed so that you fill them up with little coins. When the bank was full up - you had to smash the glass to get your money out. He has the money slot on his back - often owners of the banks would slide a blade in to try and extract some coins - and often this would chip the slot. My bank has no such chips and is in excellent damage free condition.
Dimensions: The bank is 8 cm in height and is 12.5 cm long. He is 9 cm deep.
A pretty little piece of Danish glass and vintage design. Prices for these wee banks remain on the low side - but they are sure to be rising in the future.
