This is another pretty piece of Victorian Scottish pottery - made by Robert Heron & Sons / Methven Pottery / Links Pottery, Kirkcaldy.
It is one of a small group of harder-to-find lidded storage canisters which I have for sale.
I just adore this pot - and its unusual pattern made up of a trellis of lack spindly stalks and geometric patterns of green leaves and purple daisy-type flowers. It certainly shows a lot of influence from Wemyss pottery.
Dimensions: Overall height 5 3/4 inches from base to top of lid knop. The main body section is 4 inches in diameter with a height of 4 1/2 inches.
The weight unpacked is 525 grams.
Code: G
It is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks. The glaze is generally still all nice and glossy - there is some general clean craquelure only visible on close-up inspection - and commensurate with the age of this old pot.
It is a really stunning antique Scottish Pottery pot. My asking price for this lovely item is certainly and fair one and takes into account its rarity and condition.
This pattern and shape does not appear on the market that often - and this is reflected in my listing price - please see my other ones in my store.
Robert Methven Heron was the owner of the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy. He introduced a new pottery range called Wemyss Ware in 1882.
