These are attractive antique Scottish pottery items.
It is easy for me to date them as the decorator has dated them on the base as being made in 1881.
They all seem to be signed by the decorator: G. Fermes - and on a few it is noted that they come from HADDINGTON (East Lothian, Scotland).
It is late Victorian in date. I am assuming that all these pieces are made on little porcelain blanks and decorated by a Victorian lady as a "past-time".
The painting certainly has a naive charm - that you might find in old sketchbooks where a young lady has taken instruction in watercolour painting - and botanical studies.
These are VERY RARE SURVIVORS. The body of the pottery is very very delicate and thin. I am surprised that they have survived 140 years with no damages to them.
On offer here are two cups and saucers (the cups sit into the well in the saucer and keeps them steady), and a little milk and sugar bowl (both a matching colour and pattern).
CONDITION: They are all in generally acceptable antique condition given the fragility and their extreme age. All display well.
The cup with the pink interior has a hairline crack- which you cannot see - but if you tap it there is a dull sound to the china. The saucer is has three old metal rivet repairs to the base of the well section. So someone must have loved these - to go to all that trouble repairing.
The cup with the white interior has a little hairline crack to the base - again - not so distracting but means this would have to be for display only. The saucer is without any issues.
The milk jug and sugar bowl are both damage free. Love that cute butterfly decoration.
Dimensions: Cups and Saucers are as follows: height of cup 2 3/4 inches. The rim is 2 1/2 inches. The saucer diameter is 5 1/24 inches and the well section is 2 inches.
The wee jug is 2 1/4 inches high. The sugar bowl is 2 inches high and with a diameter of 3 1/4 inches.
I am listing at a very fair price: given age and condition - and indeed their provenance: £40 for each cup and saucer and £45 for the milk and sugar jug). Grand total is £125.
These are such decorative hand-decorated ceramics - and they are listed at a fair price for these "one-off" Victorian Scottish Art Pottery pieces. These are probably items for the more specialist collector of antique Scottish ceramics.
