This is an attractive Scottish pottery ceramic quaich that dates to around 1925.
The decoration is hand-painted by Elizabeth Amour (her monogram and creation details are all on the base).
The decoration is painted onto a blank. It was common in the early 20th century for small Scottish potteries to have white ceramics supplied and decorators would paint the decoration on the blanks.
This fine ceramic quaich is rare and has a much sought-after Art Deco pattern. It has a black central reserve inside - with a decorative band at the top with black, blue, and green patterns. These repeat on the lug handles. The exterior has a plain black band at the rim.
The quaich comes with its original under platem as photographed.
A really attractive piece of Scottish pottery and a more unusual one to be decorated by Elizabeth Amour.
The dish is in good condition for one nearly 100 years old - it has no chips or cracks. This one from my website has a little craquelure to the underplate - so I have reduced the price a little to reflect this.
