I love this little piece of Scottish Pottery - it is certainly very cute. It takes the form of a slender vase. It is more of a sculptural piece - but you could use it is a little vase to display tall wispy flowers or perhaps dried grasses or ears of corn in.
It was made right up in the North of Scotland at the John O'Groat Pottery - who are better known for their puffin jugs. So this is a more unusual little piece by them.
The pottery was run by David Body and his wife Sally and it sadly closed at the end of 2012. They had initially established the Skarfskerry Pottery from 1977 until 1987 when he moved to John O'Groats in Caithness.
The front shows shaped at the top - a little highland cottage or bothy with a garden gate and dry stone wall. In the foreground it a long beige coloured path and to either side of it fields with stubbly grasses. This is continued onto the back - as is the little stone wall. I love it. It would look just lovely sitting on a narrow window ledge or shelf. It has the John O'Groats paper label on the base.
These little sculptural pieces are now hard to find and my asking price for it is a fair one. It is in perfect condition with no damages.
Dimensions: The height is just over 6 inches. The width at the widest point is 3 1/2 inches and it is under two inches at the widest point.
