This is a most collectable 1960s Midwinter Mexicana pattern open sugar bowl.
This is the ORIGINAL 1960s hand-painted Mexicana pattern which was designed by Jessie Tait- a printed version was re-launched later by the Marquis of Queensferry.
Jessie Tait (1928 - 2010) studied at the Burslem School of Art. She first worked as a junior designer to Charlotte Rhead and then as a designer for the Midwinter Pottery between 1946 and 1974.
The original pattern dates to the mid-1960s. The warm colours are taken from Mexican pottery and are painted in short lines around the rim.
The bowl is in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or staining.
With the usual Midwinter Stylecraft mark on the base as photographed.
My price reflects that this is the first issue of this design with the early Jessie Tait backstamp and not the latter cheaper one with the Queensberry mark.
The bowl is 2 1/2 inches in height by 3 3/4 inches in diameter.
The postage on this lidded dish will be £4.95 with Royal Mail Post in the UK. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
