This is a pretty vintage face powder compact that takes the form of a little handbag or suitcase.
It dates to the 1950s and is a top-quality one made by Kigu.
This one is made back and front from a gold-tone metal - with pretty patterned engine-turned decoration, as photographed. There are engraved straps on the front (with buckles) and back of the compact to make it look like a little suitcase There is a handle on the top of the bag – and you push this back to open up the compact. There is also a little lozenge on the front where you could have your initials engraved is you so desired.
The original powder sifter and thin puff are still inside. Both of these are generally nice and clean. The compact has never been used - and is in pristine condition - it is just so lovely. These "bon voyage" type compacts are highly sought after - and my prices is a fair one for such a beautifully made, original Kigu one.
The hinges and opening mechanism work just fine and are firm.
The mirror in the lid has no issues, marks or damages.
Dimensions: the height to the top of the handle is 2 3/4 inches – and the width is just under 3 1/4 inches. The depth of the compact is about ½ inch.
