This is a fine pair of vintage Edinburgh Crystal slender glasses or champagne flutes. Ideal for sipping bubbly winter wines.
The Ness pattern is a relatively new one, and only made between 2001 and 2006. This would fit in perfectly with the details on the original box. These were from the shop for visitors to the Penicuik Factory (just outside of Edinburgh). Edinburgh Crystal went into receivership in 2006 and at this date the Penicuik Factory closed down.
This is a matching pair of tall champagne glasses or flutes. They are in perfect condition with no damage - indeed, they look just as if they have never been used and come in their original retail box. The have a diamond sticker near the rim and another oblong one on the foot, as photographed.
They measure as follows: 8 1/4 inches in height. The rim has a diameter of just under 2 inches. The foot is 2 1/4 inches. When tapped they have a beautiful ring, which is a mark of quality. They do not have an etched inscription on the base due to them having all the labels placed on them to authenticate them.

The Edinburgh and Leith Flint Glassworks was established in the 1860s at Leith Walk Glassworks and later at Norton Park in Edinburgh.
In 1921 the glassworks became part of Webbs Crystal Glass Company.
In 1955, The Edinburgh and Leith Glassworks became Edinburgh Crystal, and the next decade saw further expansion and eventually the demolition of the old glassworks at Norton Park and new premises at Penicuik 10 miles south of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Crystal went into administration in July 2006. Although the brand was taken over by the Waterford / Wedgwood Group the factory no longer exists and the brand is now discontinued.
