This is a rare antique Edwardian era award for the first novice at the Bloodhound Hunt Club.
It was awarded in 1913 at the Bloodhound Show in Birmingham, as inscribed on the plaque under the ribbon section.
It is certainly a most interesting piece of memorabilia relating to the Bloodhound Club.
This award is now over 100 years old.
The recipient was in the category: First Probation Bitch- and was called Earlshall Wisdom - which I think relates to the historical association with the Scottish Earlshall aristocrats.
Anyway, a more collectible piece of historical memorabilia relating to British Bloodhound history.
As you can see from my images - it is very nicely cast - I think being made of a spelter material - which has then been plated to resemble bronze or brass.
The plaque takes the form of a decorative shield in the Rococo manner - at the top is an image of a hound following a scent or trail - above is an image of a curled hunting horn.
It measures just over 4 1/4 inches in height and is just over 3 1/4 inches wide.
It is in good condition as you can see from my images.
Listed at a fair price - as antique bloodhound awards don't pop up on the market that often - so am taking into account the relative rarity factor - as well as the quality and excellent condition of the piece itself.
