This is a little antique Staffordshire figurine of a British sailor stationed in the Crimea.
It must date to the late 1850s / early 1860s and relates to the 19th century Crimean War.
The sailor is shown wearing his naval uniform next to a large flag or pennant - and a gun-metal grey canon near his feet.
The model is in good antique condition and displays well. There is a little indentation on the base to the front as photographed. This is not a chip but is a wee dent made in the creation of the figure - it has been glazed over and fired.
The is 9 1/4 inches in height and has a diameter on the base of 3 1/2 inches. Unpacked he is 520 grams in weight.
The figure features in the following reference book: 'Staffordshire Portrait Figures' by P D Gordon Pugh, page 277.
