This is a fine pair of miniature Victorian Staffordshire Dogs or Chimney Spaniels.
They are in good antique condition. and date to around the 1880s (perhaps earlier).
They are a cute smaller size - and ideal for popping on top of a mantelpiece - or cabinet in a modern or period interior.
They are very cute - and perennial favourites. They are a matching pair as created.
Dimensions: Height 8 inches. The width is 6 inches and the depth is 4 inches.
The pair weight unpacked: just under 1.3 kg.
Have taken lots of photographs for your inspection.
They are genuine antique dogs - and NOT modern reproductions.
They are both in good condition with no chips or any other such issues. They both have a little routine all over fine glaze craquelure which is very common on these antique pieces - and also is not something you would find on modern reproductions. Both dogs have side seams which show they were made from old moulds in two sections and joined together - you do not get these on modern clip case models.
CONDITION: They are both in good antique condition and display well. There is a very fine hairline glaze or firing crack near the air hole on the back of one dog - this is not such an issue and can hardly be seen. I have photographed this in close-up for your inspection. There is also a little bit of under-glaze paint on the back of one - left in the making.
Basically a nice pair of genuine Victorian Chimney Spaniels with pretty decoration and a nice smaller size.
