This is a fine pair of vintage Edinburgh Crystal slender glasses or champagne flutes. Ideal for sipping bubbly winter wines.
They are a matching pair and are in perfect condition with no damage. The have a purple diamond sticker near the rim and are signed on the foot: Edinburgh Scotland. This etched mark dates from around the 1980s.
They measure as follows: 7 3/8 inches in height. The rim has a diameter of 2 inches. The foot is 2 3/8 inches. When tapped they have a beautiful ring, which is a mark of quality. They have a little decorative ring inclusion on the stem.
I have taken lots of photographs for your inspection.
I am listing the set here at a very fair £28 for the pair. UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded post. This will be applied to your order at the checkout. History:
The Edinburgh and Leith Flint Glassworks was established in the 1860s at Leith Walk Glassworks and later at Norton Park in Edinburgh.
In 1921 the glassworks became part of Webbs Crystal Glass Company.
In 1955, The Edinburgh and Leith Glassworks became Edinburgh Crystal, and the next decade saw further expansion and eventually the demolition of the old glassworks at Norton Park and new premises at Penicuik 10 miles south of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Crystal went into administration in July 2006. Although the brand was taken over by the Waterford / Wedgwood Group the factory no longer exists and the brand is now discontinued.
