This is a very rare British Puzzle Game for Two Players. It is complete - and comes with its original box and has orange and blue pegs and printed instructions leaflet.
It is called Fours and dates to the year 1966 (the same year England won the World Cup!) . It was made for a company called Annscot based in Waltham, Reading. They don't appear to be a well-known maker of toys - so this is quite a rarity.
The game is based on the traditional noughts and crosses game - where you try to line you x's or o's. Here, you use orange and blue pegs - and instead of playing on one level - you have four boards - so a bit more complicated and challenging. Perhaps the game was inspired by the 3-D chess game which was played by Spock around this time in episodes of Star Trek - the design is certainly rather space age.
The game is fully assembled out of clear and black plastic (as photographed) and comes with its original soft cardboard box. Obviously, I only have one of these - so when it is gone!
I have taken a lot of images for your inspection - the game is in excellent condition with no damage.
It is very hard to find another example - so perhaps more of an item for a more specialist collector of vintage games - or for a design collection.
The dimensions of the box are as follows: The height is 11 1/2 inches. It is 6 1/4 inches all around. How amazing are the graphics on the box - very much of the mid-1960s. This is a special game - made in the middle of the space race and it is now nearly 60 years old.
My price reflects its rarity and fine condition
It is a larger size - so I will have to be posting this to you as a Medium Size Parcel Recorded Post with the Royal Mail. This will cost £6.95 and applied to your order at checkout.
