This is a very pretty little brooch - which has a tiny hallmarked on the back for 9ct gold.
It is smaller in size - but just beautifully made with such fine attention to detail.
The centre of the brooch has a lovely deep purple coloured amethyst - which is set into a shallow band which holds the stone firmly in place. The amethyst is surrounded by a fine decorative edging - which is made up of little scroll shapes all around with each having a tiny white seed pearl in the scroll joints. As you can see from my close up images - this is full of exquisite detail - and must have taken great skill on the part of the goldsmith to have made this.
The brooch is a fine antique example - full of Edwardian styling. It would look fabulous on a jacket lapel - or as a subtle embellishment to a simple black sweater or little black evening dress.
It is certainly "a wee gem" - it measures over an inch wide (2.5 cm)
It has a closed c-ring catch to the back - and at the top is also a little loop where you could add a little chain if you so wished.
It is in good condition with no damages or losses. Fully hallmarked on the reverse.
Listed at a very fair price for the craftsmanship in this pretty antique brooch.
