This is a very pretty piece of early 20th Art Nouveau glass most probably made by Stuart & Son of Stourbridge, but as you often find them unmarked as such.
These pretty Jugendstil pieces of clear glass were often made with very organic shapes and often had an undulating rim.
This one is a more simple design - with a little bowl-shaped base section with slightly fluted sides and a gently undulating rim. This one is quite elaborate with its four applied peacock trails around the outside of the glassware - and with the tail section sweeping down to the polished pontil mark on the base.
Similar pieces were also made by other Stourbridge glassmakers such as Stevens & Williams, Thomas Webb etc. They were often sold at the famous Liberty Shop in London.
These more elaborate pieces with their attractive Arts and Crafts peacock eye (Cairngorm) inclusions, were extremely popular with late Victorian and Edwardian customers shopping at Liberty in London.
The dimensions are height: 4 3/4 inches. The diameter is 6 inches. It is 550 grams unpacked.
It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. No clouding to the glass - which remains lovely and clear. There is a little ripple in the glass as a flaw in the making and have taken this into account with my pricing. I have photographed in extreme close-up the little flaw in the glass - this is shown in my last photograph in my listings.
These pieces of British Art Nouveau Art Glass are now becoming very collectable - and my price for this pretty piece is certainly a fair one.
