This is a genuine original Art Nouveau antique brass pendant light fitting.
It has a rise and fall mechanism - which means that you can pull down to lower the shade - and push up for it to rise - this works on a pulley system, as photographed.
It is certainly a more unusual one - as most rise and falls come in the form of a bar with three shades or light fitments - or in a skirted brass ring.
This one is complete - it comes with its brass weight, the cloth-covered lighting flex, and a single vaseline shade with an undulating and wavering rim. The vaseline shade has a pale grey-white colour near the bulb section and this fades to clear as you approach the rim.
The shade measures: 5 inches in height - and the diameter at the widest point is 6 1/4 inches.
The brass weight section the shape of a flattened urn or bowl. The weight is substantially made - and it a heavy cast (not pressed sheet) brass - so has a good weight to this part.
There is a little bell-shaped cap on the bulb holder section (it takes a standard bayonet bulb.
The wheels are also made of cast brass - and both turn readily.
I love the decorative cap on top of the upper wheel - this to me looks like a little twin petalled flower. The top wheel is attached to the ceiling rose - so the upper one does not move when the shade is lowered. The second wheel is attached to the weight section - and moves up and down with the weight - take images of it in operation so you get an idea of how it works.
All items are in good condition with no damages.
Dimensions: Length fully extended or dropped is (from ceiling rose to the bulb holder is 27 inches. Including the shade - it is 30 inches. Shortened length from the ceiling rose to the bulb holder is 20 inches.
A lovely and more unusual rise and fall light fitment. This is reflected in my price for this fine antique lamp fitting.
