Oh! aren't these just totally adorable little Art Deco 1930s pepper pots - I have never seen any quite so cute. They are made in a two-tone amber and butterscotch bakelite - in excellent condition and with a fine shine to the surface.
The little whimsical eggs sit in a silver base section - modelled to look like an egg cup - this is Continental Silver and it is marked 800 - so think that these might be German in origin. This purity of silver is more durable than Sterling silver and more commonly used of smaller tableware items - such as these pepper pots.
On offer here is the pair as shown in my images.
The little pepper pots must never have been used and stored away for nearly 100 years - they are in just such pristine condition.
The little darker brown part screws off to allow you to fill them with salt and pepper. The silver base area is not designed to be removed.
Each little pot measures: 1 3/4 inches in height - and the diameter of each wee pot is 1 1/4 inches.
Really most unusual and rare to find these now - and in such gorgeous condition. These are items for the specialist collector of rare early bakelite items or novelty egg cups. I have seen other similar ones on offer for a much higher price than my ones - so my price is on consideration quite a fair one for these exquisitely made little breakfast items.
