This is a set of five 1950s dessert or salad plates in the attractive Persephone Pattern and made by Wedgwood.
The image was designed by the famous English artist and printmaker, Eric Ravilious (1903 - 1942).
I have these plates priced at a fair £24 per plate - so the wee set tallies up at £120.
Ravilious was originally commissioned to produce a range of designs for Wedgwood in the 1930s. Many of his original designs were only produced by Wedgwood in the early 1950s.
Each plate is 9 1/4 inches in diameter. They are all in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or craquelure. There might be the very lightest of cutlery marks on the surface that you are only able to see in close-up inspection and turning the plate to bright sunlight - but certainly, they look very clean and fresh on your dining table.
The design is very typical of the artist's distinctive style - with a fine abstract pattern around the edges - and little abstract fish and cornucopia as the central motif.
The plates have all the expected Wedgwood marks on the base of each plate, as photographed.
