These are a fine large-sized pair of antique Victorian Staffordshire dogs - they take the form of a pair of seated chimney spaniels.
They are genuine Victorian examples, and definitely NOT reproductions. They date to the late 19th century.
They are nicely modelled examples with no chips or cracks. The modelling on this pair is more minimalistic and monumental in form than other examples in my Iconic Edinburgh online store. But this is balanced out by the larger size of the pair.
The dogs each measure: 12 1/2 inches in height. They are 10 3/4 inches wide and with a depth of 4 3/4 inches. Unpacked the pair weigh in at 1.9 kg
They are a matched pair, as created.
Each dog has a little gold-coloured collar with a padlock on it - the padlock and chain on each dog have some rubbing and losses to the gilding - but this is common on these old Victorian examples. There are no chips or cracks - and the pair are nice and clean with no staining etc. The dogs each have a black muzzle with little black-painted whiskers at the sides. They both have yellow-painted eyes, as photographed.
They are fine display pieces - and will look fabulous on a mantlepiece or old-fashioned kitchen dresser.
Due to their weight, they are UK posting only. This will cost £10 with Parcelforce and applied to your order at the checkout.
