This is a beautifully made vintage heavy silver plate cigar box. It would have been put on a desk in a den or office and cigars would have been offered to clients or friends.
Of course, smoking is not so fashionable these days - and this lovely box could now be used to store jewellery, personal items. Please note there are no cigar smells or stains on this box- and I think from the condition - that it has always been on display or packed away.
There is a good bit of weight to this box (860 grams unpacked)- it is lined with clean beechwood on the interior, as photographed. It has no inner compartments so very handy for keeping jewellery and special keepsakes inside.
The top has a textured geometric guilloché pattern - and the sides around are all nice and shiny. The base is also a silver plate - and in one corner this is the maker's mark. This reads CREVILEN PARIS. They were famed in the 1960s and 1970s for producing such lovely boxes with geometric decorations on the lid.
These boxes are so beautifully made - that they are now highly sought after - and with their fine minimalistic / Art Deco styling look great in modern interiors. My asking price for this lovely large box is a fair one.
As you can see from my photographs - it is a lovely box. It looks fabulous on display
Dimensions: width is 5 inches. The depth is 4 1/2 inches and the height is 2 3/4 inches.
There are no dents or dings, and it is in as good a condition as the day that it was made. It is free from scratches - except for some light ones on the base - where it has been picked up and put down over the years. The silver plate is without losses and I think that it has quite a thick layer of silver plate on the exterior.
I have taken a lot of images for your inspection.
These old boxes are now getting harder to source - especially ones with no dents etc. This one is such fine quality - you just need to look at the hinge to see the craftsmanship in the making. It has not been over-polished and looks fabulous on display - the quality, size, and weight are reflected in my asking price.
It will be sent to you in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery post. This will be capped at £5.50 and applied to your order at the checkout.
