This is a gorgeous vintage Scottish paperweight. It is made by Perthshire Paperweights.
This is a really beautiful example and this is reflected in my asking price - with a grand total of thirteen very fine red and green twist half-spokes and all the tiniest of millefiori canes - it must have taken a very long time and great skill to make.
It is a larger size - it measures about 2 inches in height and with a diameter at the widest point of about 3 inches.
The ground is a pretty aqua green colour with ground and polished pontil.
As mentioned it has a total of thirteen spokes which issues from the central rosette.
The central rosette is made of tiny pale white, pink and yellow millefiori canes.. There are canes in each section between the spokes - these are blue, white and peppermint Again, as you often find with Perthshire weights, all the coloured canes are very subtle and attractive pastel shades. The latticino canes have a background colour of slightly darker aqua green - almost the same colour as the base.
As you can see it is a most intricate and exquisite weight - and all the canes and latticino twists are very fine indeed. I don't think that I have ever seen one with such teeny weeny canes used in the design - it is so fine!
It is in fine vintage condition for display - no chips or cracks.
A really attractive Scottish paperweight and a top-quality example.
