This is one of two Staffordshire Flatback Figurines of the Poet, Robert Burns in my online store. They are both taken from the same mould - but this one is more highly finished with lots more original colouring applied to the figurine.
Burns is shown in a romantic pose gazing in reverie and out into the distance. He has a yellow waistcoat decorated with little painted bows. He wears pink breeches, white silk stockings and black ankle boots. He wears a Scottish Shawl on top of his great coat. He rests against a grassy knoll. In one hand he holds a book of his poetry - and in his other hand his Scotch bonnet Tam O'Shanter with its little red pom-pom (a reference to one of his most famous poems).
It is a nice large size. Height is 13 ¼ inches. Width is 6 ¾ inches Weight is 1kg.
He is in excellent antique condition and dates to the mid to late 19th century.
Reference: Harding Book 1, Page 35, Fig 57.
Please also see my more highly coloured pair of Burns and his love, Highland Mary.
Models of the poet are a little harder to find - and my price for this attractive and finely coloured issue is certainly a fair one.
He is probably a bit too large and heavy to send outside of the UK - so sadly, just for posting in the UK only. This will cost £10 and be applied to your order at the cheque out.
