This is a lovely large stoneware teapot, made by Buchan Pottery, based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed).
It is certainly a most substantial piece of Scottish Pottery.
The shape of this teapot is exceptionally rare - and I have never seen another piece in this shape before. It is also a large size - and in pristine vintage condition, I don't think that it has ever been used before.
This lovely traditional Buchan pattern features a stylized abstract thistle on one side - and on the other side is a wee group of Scottish bluebells. These are all hand-painted decorations.
Dimensions: Height 9 1/2 inches - and handle to spout it 9 1/2 inches.
The thistles design is a traditionally popular pattern in the Buchan Stoneware range.
The rarity of this large Buchan Portobello pottery teapot is reflected in my asking price for it. It is probably of interest to a more specialist Buchan collector.
I also have a matching (and not so rare!) thistle pattern tall coffee pot for sale in my shop priced at £35 - could offer postal discounts of course.
Probably just for posting in the UK only. It would be about £10 to post to you due to the size and weight in the UK with Parcelforce48. Free Edinburgh delivery / pick up could be available - please enquire.
