On offer are handy extras if you have damaged any of your cups / saucers in your original set of Susie Cooper CORNPOPPY.
These pieces all date to the 1970s.
All of them are in excellent vintage condition with no damages.
The design is called Cornpoppy and it was designed by Susie Cooper for Wedgwood.
Though the Susie Cooper Pottery had continued as a successful enterprise since the 1930s, in 1966 it merged with Wedgwood. However, the pottery remained a largely autonomous unit and continued to produce Susie Cooper designs.
This 'Cornpoppy' pattern reflects the Art Nouveau revival of the 1960s and early 1970s (influenced by artists like Mucha) with the use of a sinuous line wrapping around the front of the form.
The 'Cornpoppy' range was (and indeed continues to be) popular in Britain, and featured a large red poppy with sweeping green bud tendrils.
The saucers have a diameter of 6 inches - and the cups are 3 inches in height with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches. The side plates have a diameter of 6 1/2 inches. The set comes with a single slightly larger side plate measuring 8 inches.
A design classic even!
