This is a late 1970s commemorative paperweight - it was a presentation item from BP. It is one of two oil paperweights available on my website.
This one is a slightly larger-sized one with a double inclusion of oil drops, as photographed.
Dimensions: 4 inches in length by 2 inches square.
It is made of clear resin with one side printed with the word HESS in Emerald Green - and with references to the Rob Roy Oil and the Ivanhoe oil field - both in the North Sea, Scotland. Hess is a leader in deepwater development and production, with experience in offshore drilling and oil rigs. These fields have now been decommissioned - so this is definitely a little piece of recent history!
This is a more unusual one - as it is a double-sized one with two inclusions of oil drops sealed inside. Again, like my other one, it is in excellent condition. The Perspex is nice and clear with no discolouration. There are no scratches or chips - as good as the day that it was made.
It is a rather rare survivor and this is suitably reflected in my asking price - this is a very fair one for this much harder-to-find double weight - with two drops of "black gold" oil from decommissioned Scottish oil fields. There is not much oil left in the North Sea - at least that is what they keep telling us in Scotland!
