This is a pretty shallow pin dish made in the 1930s by the Scottish Glass company Monart.
It is a genuine early Monart piece - not a later Vasart or Strathearn piece.
I have five of these wee dishes on sale from my own collection (as shown in my last photograph).
This one is bright orange colour with splashes of bright yellow glass throughout and a darker brown speckled glass towards the rim - all with sprinkles of gold aventurine. The glass has a mottled appearance with elongated dots of colour throughout.
It has a more unusual base (without the usual pontil) and it has been polished smooth (as photographed) - this would have originally had a round Monart paper label - but sadly this has gone missing over the years.
It is a sweet little miniature example - measuring 3 1/2 inches in diameter and with a height of 3 /4 inch.
It is a fine display piece and a great starter piece for a collection of Scottish glassware.
It is in great condition with no chips or cracks. There are some tiny scratches to the base as shown in my photographs. This is a good sign - and what you would expect on a piece of this age - it is commensurate with age and being picked up and put down for decades.
Listed at a fair price for a piece of Monart art glass about 90 years old.
