This is a much sought-after COSMO pendant lampshade by Flemming Brylle & Preben Jacobsen. It was made in the 1960s / 1970s in Denmark.
It was produced by the Quality System (Dragor) company, initially in 1965.
Artist Flemming Brylle (b.1935) and industrial designer Preben Jacobsen designed this pendant lamp when they founded their company Quality System in the mid-1960s. The company ended its business in 1985. These Cosmo lights were produced in a variety of colours - but the white shade remained the most popular.
My shade is in perfect condition with no condition issues - it has the maker's mark on the top - where the electric cable for the bulb inserts. It is made of white anti-static polyacrylic – a material with very fine light-dispersing qualities. One of the advertising slogans of the time was: “These lamps have been created by famous designers, and fit perfectly into today’s residential environment”.
It measures 31 cm in height with a diameter of 29 cm,
The Cosmo lamp is now considered a design classic and I have priced it accordingly.
It will be posted in the UK with Parcelforce24 - this will be tracked and of course very carefully and securely packed. It will cost £10 and applied to your order at the checkout.
