This is a genuine and relatively rare vintage Whitefriars Glass lamp base.
It is made of aquamarine green glass and cased in clear.
The base takes the form of an elongated "elephant foot" glass vase - but this piece was always made as a lamp - and was NOT adapted from a shorter and more stubby vase etc.
It has its original vintage white plastic bulb holder- and this is where the electric cable attaches.
The thickness of the glass on the base prevents any holes for the cable to go through the main body section - hence the cable on the bulb holder attachment.
The lamp is teardrop-shaped and gracefully tapers towards the top.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no damages.
There are not so many of these Whitefriars lamps - so listed here at a fair price.
It certainly would look good in a mid-century interior as an accent lamp on a wee teak or rosewood circular tabletop in a corner space.
A nice tall and slender piece of Whitefriars glass - it is 16 inches in height - not including the bulb holder. It is 4 1/2 inches diameter at the base.
Bit of a beast with a good bit of weight to it - it is 2.5 kg in weight unpacked - yowzah! it is very substantial.
Listed at a very fair price for this special piece of British glass.
