This very fine and sought-after vintage mid-century Asprey of London Crocodile document wallet or little clutch bag, It probably dates to the 1940s.
It is a suitable size for carrying your iPad or computer tablet in.
This is a gorgeous little document wallet - and in just beautiful vintage condition, stitching all intact, and nice and clean inside.
The colour is very attractive (probably nearer to the warm darker shades in my images) and with a nice surface sheen to it. I have taken a lot of close-ups of the surface for you - if you look carefully you will see the ISO Pore on many of the scales - this only appears on genuine crocodile skin. ISO is short for the integumentary sensory organ pore. Crocodiles have sensory hairs on their scales that are used to feel their environment. After the hide is tanned the hair is gone but the pore in each scale remains. You can clearly see this on my bag - this shows that my case is NOT leather which has been impressed with a pattern.
The interior has leather-lined concertina pockets for storing papers, and documents as well. There is a little finger-closing press clasp on the front.
The dimensions are as follows: The width is 12 1/2 inches. The height is 9 1/2 inches (32 x 24 cm).
Inside it has its tooled gold stamp on the textured leather lining for Asprey, London as photographed.
This was bought by me at a specialist antiques auction many years ago and I have never used it but kept it all carefully packed away. It is a top-quality luxury folio case and in excellent vintage condition. This is reflected in my price. Try and find another for less! It is sold here as a genuine Asprey issue.
